Club Championships
1 All play all. Colours as per chart
2 All games will be 1hour 30 minutes

K O Cup

1  All games to be played by the round date.
2 Time control is 1 hour 30 minutes.
3 Drawn games will be 1 hour each, colours reversed, followed by ½ hour replays if necessary

Lightning

1 7 rounds will be played with the best 4 results to count
2 Play allows 10 seconds to make a move. Players must move just before the end of the buzzer or the game is lost
3 Illegal moves lose

Summer League

1 14 rounds can be played, with the best 8 results to count
2 A 7 games maximum Swiss to be played per night. If less than 7 then a set format will be used
3 Games start at 7.15. Late entries can be allowed if the competition format allows it

Pairs

1 Players are split in 2 groups by grade
2 Pairings are drawn at random. One from each group
3 Each player plays 3 games in their group from a set format.
4 The partners totals are added to decide the winning pair

 

 CHESS LADDER RULES

 

  1. Positions are allocated at the beginning of each season, lowest grades at the top, highest grades at the bottom.

 

  1. Challenges can be made on the person above. If they are absent or involved in another club tournament game, then you may challenge the next available person up. This can only be done once per night. 

 

  1.  If the top person is absent for 2 weeks then the 2nd place can change places with them.

 

  1. If anyone refuses a legitimate challenge you change places with them.

 

  1. When two players have played a game, one of them must play someone else before a re-match can take place.

 

  1. Drawn games stay in the same positions.

 

  1. All successful defences of the top position, including draws, must be entered onto the leader chart. Whoever makes the most defences in the season will hold the John Game Trophy for one year. In the event of a tie, then the most wins  takes precedence

 

  1. All games will be 30 minutes each, less any handicap from the list below.
